Cas14a1 Nuclease

Cas14a1 is an endonuclease. Compared with other Cas proteins, the molecular weight of Cas14a1 protein is generally small (400~700aa). Under the guidance of tracrRNA: crRNA (or sgRNA), it specifically binds and cuts target ssDNA, and is not limited by the PAM site. When Cas14a1 protein binds to sgRNA and target ssDNA, it activates accessory cleavage activity and shreds any sequence of ssDNA in the system, which can be used for molecular detection of target nucleic acids.
