Apolipoprotein B exists on the surface of low density lipoprotein. Cell recognition and uptake of LDL are mainly achieved by recognizing apolipoprotein B. Therefore, when apolipoprotein B increases, even if the level of LDL is normal, it can also increase the incidence of coronary heart disease. ApoB is synthesized by the liver and is the main structural protein of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-CHOL), accounting for about 97% of the total protein content of LDL-CHOL. The determination of LDL-CHOL can directly reflect the level of LDL-CHOL.
