Cys-C) is a small molecular weight cystine protease inhibitor. All nucleated cells can steadily produce Cys-C. Cys-C is almost completely filtered by the glomeruli and then reabsorbed by the renal tubules, and the renal tubules are not secreted or excreted through the renal tubules. Cys-C is not affected by inflammation, sex, muscle and age changes. Therefore, Cys-C is a very stable indicator of glomerular filtration rate. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the most direct indicator of renal function.
