Reference value: ≤ 70 ng/mL. Elevation: seen in the early stage of acute myocardial infarction, acute muscle injury, muscular dystrophy, muscular atrophy, polymyositis, acute or chronic renal failure, severe congestive heart failure and long-term shock. MB is a kind of protein peculiar to human striated muscle tissue, and its content is very small in the serum of normal people. It can be released from damaged cells when the heart muscle and skeletal muscle are damaged. Because the molecular weight of MB is small, it is easy to release into the blood circulation earlier. MB in patients with AMI begins to increase at 2-3 hours after onset, reaches the peak at 7-10 hours, and returns to the reference range in about 24 hours, so MB has become an important index for the determination of AMI in recent years.
