General information

Function Angiotensin II is a polypeptide (octapeptide) substance produced by the

hydrolysis of angiotensin I with converting enzyme. Angiotensin II binds to

angiotensin receptors in different tissues and produces corresponding

physiological effects. It acts on the vascular smooth muscle, causing the

systemic arteriole to contract and the arterial blood pressure to rise. Angiotensin

II is one of the known strongest vasoconstrictive substances, and is clinically

used for auxiliary diagnosis of hypertension and detection of therapeutic effect.
