Application.
As a test compound, anionic detergent sodium dodecyl sulfate was used to study whether Bacillus amylolyticus KPS46 could induce soybean (Glycine max L.) to resist several diseases, signal transduction, protein production and system protection.
Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is an anionic detergent which forms a complex with protein through hydrophobic interaction. Studies have shown that the hydrodynamic function of protein-SDS complexes depends on the length of their polypeptide chains. Therefore, the electrophoresis technology based on SDS can separate protein molecules based on its molecular weight. In addition, SDS can dissolve the cell membrane and extract membrane-binding proteins.
