Application.
It is used to select the resistance of mutant cells and transformed cells to ampicillin.
Points for attention in preparation.
It is reported that ampicillin is slightly soluble in water, almost insoluble in alcohol, chloroform, ether and fixed oils, but soluble in dilute acids or bases. The solution should not be autoclaved; the original solution should be filtered and cryopreserved and stable for several months.
Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Mode of action: the Beaufort-lactam antibiotic inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by inactivating transpeptidase located on the inner surface of the bacterial cell membrane.
Warning.
It is reported that the product can be stable for 6 weeks at 25 °C, 43% and 81% relative humidity. Other studies have shown that the stability of ampicillin in solution is related to pH, temperature and the properties of buffer. When stored above pH 7, its activity is quickly lost. It is recommended that the best preservation conditions are 2-8 ℃ and pH 3.8-5, and its activity can be retained more than 90% in one week.
