General description.
Xylose is a five-carbon sugar involved in the formation of lignocellulose in plants. Xylose is mainly found in broad-leaved forests and agricultural wastes.
Application.
D-(+)-xylose can be used to activate one of the components of microbial activity to enhance the biochemical detection of biofilm formation, so as to identify the substrate screening characterization of Bacillus cereus.
Biochemical / physiological effects.
The method of predicting the content of xylose in urine after oral administration can be used to diagnose carbohydrate absorption and non-pancreatic molecular absorption disorders. Xylose plays an important role in the bioconversion of plant biomass into fuels and chemicals.
Quality.
