Application.
It can be used for washing globules and isoelectric focusing to reduce osmotic flow in agarose gel. It can be used to induce osmotic stress.

D-sorbitol is a sugar alcohol and is often used as a sugar substitute. It exists in nature and can also be synthesized from glucose. The food industry uses D-sorbitol as an additive in the form of sweeteners, moisturizers, emulsifiers, thickeners or dietary supplements. D-sorbitol is also used in cosmetics, paper and medicines. In nature, D-sorbitol exists widely in plants through photosynthesis, from algae to higher plant fruits of Rosaceae.
