Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a kind of polyhydroxyl polymer, which is soluble in water. It is known that PVA has high mechanical strength, biocompatibility and non-toxicity. Therefore, it can be used as biomedical implant material. Vinyl acetate was polymerized to form poly (vinyl acetate), then hydrolyzed to form PVA. It can be used in drug delivery systems, wound dressings, dialysis membranes, artificial skin, surgical repair and cardiovascular devices.
