Overview
General description.
β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (β-NMN) is the intermediate of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) biosynthesis catalyzed by nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT). NAMPT can mediate the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to form β-NMN. β-NMN adenylate transferase then converts β-NMN into NAD+.
Application.
β-nicotinamide mononucleotides (NMN) have been used to study the binding motifs of RNA aptamers and the activation of nucleases containing β-nicotinamide mononucleotides (β-NMN)-activated RNA fragments.
Other considerations.
Note: this is a common form of NMN. Don't be confused with α-NMN
