Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Mifepristone (RU-486) has the activity of progesterone receptor antagonist and glucocorticoid receptor antagonist.
Fepristone is considered to be a powerful abortion drug. It also suppresses human chorionic gonadotropin. Mifepristone causes decidual necrosis.
Application.
Mifepristone was used to induce the destruction of proliferative and secretory endometrial stromal cells; to establish a mouse model of preterm delivery (PTB) to study the difference in the mechanism of cervical maturation between non-preterm delivery and PTB; to activate the gene switch gal4; of Drosophila and the effect of research steroids on prostaglandin secretion.
