Hormone; mediates mammalian photoperiodicity; inhibits cerebellar nitric oxide synthase; peroxynitrite scavenger. Melatonin has a complex effect on the pathway of apoptosis, which can inhibit apoptosis in immune cells and neurons, but enhance the apoptotic cell death of cancer cells. Inhibit the proliferation / metastasis of breast cancer cells by inhibiting estrogen receptor.
