Application.
L-leucine has been used as an agonist of rapamycin (mTOR) mechanism to determine whether AMPK/mTOR pathway is involved in berberine-mediated autophagy of J774A.1 cells. It is also used for the selection of transformed cells.
Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Leucine is a non-sugar essential amino acid. It is a kind of branched chain amino acid and the structural component of protein. Leucine has a positive effect on the release of insulin, thereby eliminating toxic sugars in the blood. The degradation of leucine will lead to the formation of ketone bodies.
