Biochemical / physiological behavior.
(-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is an antioxidant polyphenolic flavonoid, which exerts its anti-tumor effect by inhibiting the activity of telomerase and DNA methyltransferase. EGCG blocked the activation of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2). EGCG could inhibit the activities of fatty acid synthase and glutamate dehydrogenase.
Frequently asked questions.
Epigallocatechin gallate (-)-epigallocatechin gallate has been used as an antitumor agent in mouse TRAMP metastatic prostate cell line for cell proliferation test, apoptosis detection and modified Boyden-chamber test to induce acute myeloid leukemia cell death through death-associated protein kinase-2 pathway. Used for cell viability, cell cycle and apoptosis analysis as an inhibitor of osteoclast differentiation in mouse proosteoclast line RAW264.7 to promote myoblast differentiation
