Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Water soluble condensing agent. EDAC is usually used as a carboxyl activator to form amide bonds with primary amines. In addition, it can react with phosphate groups. EDAC has been used in peptide synthesis, cross-linking proteins with nucleic acids, and the preparation of immune conjugates. In general, EDAC is used in the range of pH4.0-6. 0 without buffer. The use of amine and carboxylate buffers should be especially avoided.
