0.5M EDTA Solution

Application.
This product is an aqueous solution of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) sodium salt filtered by 0.22 μ m membrane. It is ideal for biochemical or molecular biological applications that require bivalent cationic chelating agents. By forming complexes with metal ions, EDTA inhibits metal-dependent enzyme reactions. EDTA complexes metal ions with a molar ratio of 1:1.

This product can be used to: 1) terminate metal-dependent enzymatic reaction; 2) protect DNA from metal-dependent nuclease.

Nucleic acids are usually stored in TE buffers containing 1mM EDTA, which prevents nucleic acids from being degraded by metal-dependent nucleases.
