Application.
Anionic detergent; can be used to extract membrane receptors and other plasma membrane proteins and to separate nuclei. Sodium deoxycholate has been used in the lysis buffer of brown adipose tissue. It is used for acellular aortic valve catheters.

Increase the dissolution of fat to promote its absorption in the intestine.
General description.
Sodium deoxycholate is a kind of bile salt and ionic detergent. Bile salts can interact with lipids / fat / cholesterol in the intestine and form mixed micelles. These micelles help digest fat and absorb it through the intestinal wall.
