22 carbohexaenoic acid DHA is an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid with 22 carbon atoms and six double bonds. The first double bond appears at the third position at the methyl end (22:6 nmur3). DHA is a component of lipid membrane and myelin sheath. DHA can also be used as a precursor of signal molecules such as prostaglandins and eicosanoic acid.
