Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and paraoxonase 1 (PON1) are serum enzymes synthesized by the liver and associated with inflammation. The activities of these two enzymes are decreased in septic animal models injected with LPS. Intravenous administration of choline chloride at the dose of 20mg/kg body weight can prevent the decrease of LPS-mediated BChE and PON1 enzyme activities.
