Application.
N-acetyl-L-cysteine has been used as a component of the basic intestinal medium for the culture of mouse intestinal stem cells and as a component of the expansion medium.
Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Antioxidants and dissolving mucus. Increase the free radical scavengers in the cell bank. It is reported that N-acetylcysteine can prevent neuronal apoptosis, but can induce smooth muscle cell apoptosis. Suppress HIV replication. It can be used as the substrate of microsomal glutathione transferase.
