Points for attention in preparation.
Amphotericin B is insoluble in water from pH 6 to 7, but soluble in water with pH 2 or 11. It is soluble in DMSO (30-40 mg / mL) and dimethylformamide (2-4 mg / mL). Due to the poor solubility, the aqueous solution can not be aseptically filtered.
Application.
Amphotericin B was used to study the effect of calcium influx on antifungal activity, and to study the binding and kinetics of amphotericin B with sterols in monolayers, aqueous solutions and phospholipid bilayers. It is also commonly used as an antifungal supplement in tissue culture.
Biochemical / physiological behavior.
Amphotericin B can combine with sterols to form pores in the membrane and lead to the leakage of small molecules. This product is most effective against fungi and yeast.
Other considerations.
The product is sensitive to light and humidity, so keep the container airtight and store in a dry and ventilated place.
